In this lecture, Katja De Vos explores 'Our brain loves wood', a study regarding the influence of material choices on human well-being. This research was conducted by Prof. Dr Steven Laureys and Dr Steven Scholte, in collaboration with the neuroscientific research institute Neurensics.

The research shows that our brain responds more strongly and positively to interiors in which wood plays a prominent role. For designers, specifiers and manufacturers, the session offers valuable insights into how material choices contribute to a pleasant and sustainable living environment.

In collaboration with Fedustria

Holding a Master’s degree in Communication Sciences (VUB) and a postgraduate specialisation in Corporate Communication (VLEKHO), Katja De Vos began her career 25 years ago as Communications Manager at the former Febelhout. In 2008, this organisation merged with Febeltex to form Fedustria, the Belgian federation for the textile, wood, furniture, and design industries. Today, she leads Fedustria’s MarCom & Public Affairs department. In this capacity, she defines the federation’s strategic internal and external communications and plays a pivotal role in industry-wide campaigns, member relations, events, and policy communications.
